Stop for a moment and have a look around your living space.

Lazy Sunday Breakfast

Today the weather forecasters are promising a cool change for Perth.  It's only going to be 32C - easily cool enough to head for a lazy breakfast in Fremantle and a swim at the beach on the way home.

We went to one of my favourites, Moore & Moore, who have somehow managed to persuade Fremantle City Council to allow them build a wooden deck in the loading zone in front of the building where there is now lovely shady seating.  Ideal for dog people like us.

Australia Day 2012

Australia Day was really really hot in Perth this year.

So hot that anyone who had a pool was popular.

So hot that some people got a bit silly.

We ended up with a boat, a surfboard and an exercise ball in the pool.

But isn't that what Australia Day is all about?

Fitzroy Favourites

On this trip to Melbourne we stayed in Fitzroy, and as my daughter, son-in-law and their 6 month old baby were with us we just mooched around Fitzroy and Collingwood for most of the time, with a brief excursion to the Camberwell Markets on the Sunday morning.

Here are a few of the places we frequented:

Little Creatures on Brunswick Street - the lights are actually bunches of beer bottles

Hook'd on Brunswick - the best fish cafe ever (and a great mural)

A mystery cafe with no name in a garage down a laneway off Johnston Street - so Melbourne!

If I didn't live in Perth..........

I would live in Melbourne.

I would own lots of wooly scarves and an old fashioned bicycle.

I am off to Melbourne again for a few days (not on a bicycle).  There is always lots to photograph there so I will do a couple of Melbourne posts when I get back.

A Pop of Colour from Paris

I was sorting through my photos and thought that these three, which I took in Paris in Ocotber, made a nice group.

Markets in March

The next wave of markets in Perth will be in March, when we have Perth Upmarket and also Unwrapped at South Perth.

I am hoping to participate in both, so I have cleared my desk of Christmas paraphenalia and started on some new ideas.

Old Chairs Made New

My daughter upgraded her garden furniture and had three unwanted director's chairs.  They had done great service but the fabric had started to disintegrate so they were unusable.  I decided to rescue them and tackle the job of replacing the fabric.

I bought some lovely french deckchair fabric from my friend Eva at Trio in North Perth.  Eva gets the fabric from Ici et la.

I removed the old fabric from one of the chairs so that I could use it as a template and then got to work with my trusty sewing machine.

I'm pretty pleased with the end result.
