Some New Treasures
I have got some new treasures recently and thought I would share some of them with you:
Can you guess what this is?
Does this picture give you a better idea? It is a fabulous pot stand made of balls of felt!
this is a lovely old wooden spindle with the spool and thread still inside which we got at an auction in Albany,
and this is a tiny vintage tricycle which we simply had to have!

Paper Lanterns
This weekend I made some tiny paper lanterns out of vintage atlas paper. I added a little wire loop so that they could be hung up as decorations. Possibly even Christmas decorations?
I know it's a little early to be thinking of Christmas, but applications for stalls at some of the Christmas markets around Perth are already starting to circulate so that has forced me to start thinking ahead.

Card Making
As I will be overseas for most of October and the Christmas market season will be fast approaching when I get back, I have been building up my card stock with some new additions:
As with all my other cards, the paper is from vintage storybooks which I have salvaged from op shops and fairs.

Spring Cleaning
I have been doing some re-organising in my office - moving things around, adding some new treasures. This is my favourite corner.

Bookmobile
This is what I made at the weekend - based on an idea from a wonderful book called The Repurposed Library.
What I like about this idea is that you can make the shape as big or as small as you like. I just kept adding pieces until I was happy with how it looked.

Vintage Lace
This is some of the vintage lace which I found at Camberwell Markets on my last trip to Melbourne.
A pile of lace doilies - amazingly detailed work.
I use damaged pieces of embroidery to decorate my cards - I especially like red embroidery for Christmas cards
And whole rolls of lace - I presume this would have been used to edge things but sections of it look really good on cards.

Mellow Yellow
Maybe it's because it is Spring, or maybe for no reason whatsoever, but I seem to be working with yellow at the moment.
Boats, bunting, cards - it's all happening.

A Cluster of Cool Cafes
Up at the top end of Bourke Street in Melbourne (near Parliament) there is a little cluster of great places to get a coffee or have a meal.
First there is The Mess Hall - you can sit outside or in - which is great for breakfast.

Then there is Von Haus in Crossley Lane which is excellent for lunch, dinner or just an evening drink.
