Made on the Left part 2

It was wonderful to be part of Made on the Left's first market in its new permanent home - the State Theatre.

The venue was actually the rehearsal studios (which are enormous) and we got to pretend, just for a moment, that we were performers in an important production.

Thanks to the huge PR efforts of the MOTL team masses of people turned up on the day and we all had a great time.

This was my stall.

The next market will be in November.

Brrr.....Winter Chill

It was really cold this morning - 0.4C, so cold that the windows had misted up inside.

But the sky was the clearest blue you will ever see, and there are new buds on my wisteria

It seems odd that the wisteria has new buds while the liquid amber is still clinging to the last
of its Autumn leaves!

And this is my favourite camellia in the garden.  It is so delicate, and it is right outside one of our windows so I can see it from inside the house.

On the Swing

Hello, I am Jacob, and I sometimes make a guest appearance on my grandma's blog.

Now that I am one I can go on the swing by myself.

I like grandma to push me really high.

Yay! I love the swing.

My Favourite New Things

I have a bit of a thing going on with accessories at the moment.  I never used to wear beads or brooches but with so many really great young designers out there it is hard not to be tempted.

Large beads by Treehouse, from Out on a Limb in Maylands.  Oblong beads by Elk.

Hand stitched leather on pins from Toolz, Melbourne

I picked up some fantastic bargains at Fenella Peacock's winter sale. This silk tunic with a beautiful wool neckline is one of them.

Mt Lawley Primary School

Last weekend we witnessed the terrible fire which all but destroyed the 100 year old Mt Lawley Primary School.

We live on the same street as the School and our three grown up children all went to school there.

It is simply impossible to understand what kind of person is capable of such wanton destruction, but as the School Principal said - you can destroy a building but you cannot destroy the spirit of a community.

First Birthday

My beautiful grandson had his first birthday at the weekend so we had a party for him at our house.

It was wonderful to have all our  family and friends together and we had a lovely balloon filled afternoon, with the compulsory fairy bread and chocolate crackles.

Spring Cleaning in Winter

The weather has been almost Spring-like in Perth and has inspired me to change things around in my office space.

Our office building is a restored turn of the century house so my vintage finds work well.
